Who is Egemen Mustafa Şener
Born in Prizren on 10 June 1962. Along the New York — Zagreb axis he shaped a fashion image with documentary gravity.
He grew up in a multilingual home — Turkish, Croatian, and Albanian at the table. A Zenit-E camera arrived as a fifteenth-birthday gift and became both escape and record.
London Film School and the New York School of Visual Arts shaped the craft. From 1985 to 1989 he worked under Richard Avedon: studio discipline, hard contrast, portrait depth.
Editorial years followed for titles including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar — American minimalism fused with Balkan melancholy. Works enter permanent collections at MoMA and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
The 1996 exhibition Fragments of Home braided couture aesthetics with the gravity of displacement. Later practice moved fashion into industrial ruins and shipyards — dramatic natural light instead of polite studio glow.
